A slender strip of water separates the island of San Servolo from the Giardini della Biennale, the exceptional contemporary art exhibition area. Over the past decade, the island has hosted various national pavilions for Venice's Biennale d'Arte e di Architettura, collateral events and a variety of temporary photography, painting, sculpture exhibitions, music festivals and video reviews. It has hosted numerous inaugural events for the Biennale both indoors and out. Its lovely garden has often been "interpreted" by various contemporary artists in site-specific installations. Here, visitors can admire permanent sculptures by Pino Castagna, Pietro Consagra, Sandro Chia, Fabrizio Plessi , Gianni Aricò and Oliviero Rainaldi

A recently constructed exhibition hall with four bright, naturally lit rooms providing a total of 80 linear metres of wall space and an area of 350 sq.m. It has an attractive separate entrance off the garden, a natural extension for outdoor installations, and can also be used together with room E for inaugurations and vernissages.
It has hosted a number of major national pavilions during recent editions of the Biennale Art or Architecture Exhibition

An exhibition space accessed via the garden, suitable for small temporary exhibitions and other events. It has white honeycomb display panels, 2.5-metre ceiling and carpeted floor. It has direct access to outdoor greenery, often used for sculptures and installations

A long corridor leading to the buildings in the monumental part of the island, it has white honeycomb display panels for temporary exhibits or to personalise conventions. It is the island’s main traffic area, and the entrance can be personalised with the graphics and credits of the group hosting the event.
